What Are Dentures?
A denture is a removable dental appliance that replaces missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They closely resemble natural teeth and can restore—and even improve—your smile. At our St. Louis dental office, dentures come in two categories: complete dentures, for when all natural teeth are missing, and partial dentures, for when only some teeth are missing.
Denture Installation
There are two ways to install dentures:
- Traditional – This process is typical when the patient has been without teeth and healed, or if they are replacing an existing set of dentures.
- Immediate – made in advance, and placed immediately after teeth have been removed. Patients will have teeth during the healing process. The dentures will be adjusted after the gum tissue heals.
